Default The rules of dueling

Ever since the concept of "scrimmaging" has been introduced into the GW scene it has become quite popular. Its used as a guild training, build testing and, more often than not, a way to solve an argument.

To be most honest i dont think the 1v1 solves an argument. It makes things worst. For example, one person calls another a "noob". To prove the truth this person challenges the "noob" to a scrimmage. The "noob" totally stomps him and now the person has a hurt pride and begins saying that things were unfair, unbalanced and the build the "noob" used was, well, "noob".

Im tired of hearing arguments over the fairness and whats allowed in a duel so i thought up of a few reasonable rules that should i hope most of you will agree with. Feel free to add things.

1. The one who calls the duel needs to make rules that the challenger will agree with.

2. All the skills in a duel are fair game. ANeT didnt put skills in this game not to be used.

3. If you lose to somone and you ask to change your build and they accept; the other person has every right to change their build in order to adapt to your new strategy. Unless they say otherwise

4. If the player is better then you, stop complaining. <--seriously

5. This game was never meant to be 1v1. Of coarse things will be a little unbalanced but you can still beat the odds.

I cant think of anymore but please give me feedback, i really hope on getting at least a few rules down for 1v1. These rules are more like a guideline to proper conduct

1v1 is only a real test of skill if both players are running identical builds. Anything else will give one player an advantage, and usually a pretty serious one.

Not to say 1v1 with mirror builds can't be fun. Seems like Dom mesmers in particular could be a nice test of both player's skill.

And crippling shot rangers. Just don't allow the mirrored ranger builds to bring an evade stance, because then luck enters the equation (i.e. blocked an interrupt on troll due to whirling while interrupting opponent's troll through whirling).

Um...well, I guess if things escalate to the level you described, one of the pair would notify the guild leader through the guild announcement would suggest having. And the guild leader would:

a)Put a stop to it and punish them
b)Have a grand tournament where they get to pick teams and fight using strategy.

I like b) because it sounds the most fun.

edit- ooh, I should probably put something about scrimmaging in here, so I'm not off topic.

Me like scrimmage!

1v1's prove nothing. It's a TEAM game- do you ever see footballers or rugby players challenging each other to 'a 1v1 dUal' and shouting 'pWnT n00b!1' afterwards? They're a harmless distraction; nothing more, nothing less.

Get a lot of that in RA too, some joker with Healing Hands who wants to go 1v1 after his entire team got wiped out and he didnt bring res suddenly wants to go 1v1 and then whines when all 4 of us just whack him down.

I dont see the point of this anyway, I think its fun as such to go 1v1 in GH but it doesnt prove anything anyway, first you have to have equal builds and second that would probably mean that someone isnt playing their own build.

It's a team game, not a 1v1 noob contest.

1v1 is as pointless as it gets, IMHO. Go farm trolls, gg.
